Part One – Because God Says So
You have picked up bits and pieces of conversation over the years of traveling that the people of Thylasx feel that the next apocalypse is nigh.
You have come to Keatonborough, but it is hard to understand what has brought you to this agricultural city of mankind. A cumpulsion has dragged you here, such that while you cannot understand it, you also cannot deny it, for it would be like arguing with your own decisions or blaming others for your very thoughts.
Have him wander the city. Let him go a few places before he passes a minor shrine. Here’s his name EREL.
Attracted to the the Shrine of Grade, known as Brombral Gemlord to the Dwarves. A sharp pain develops behind your eyes, your vision blurs and blood rushes from your nose. All is black.
You awaken on a solid black stone floor with veins of white and blue minerals slashing back and forth across it. There is no light.
How does Erel picture the God of Gemstones, Brombral Gemlord? That is what you see step out of the darkness into a light that shines down upon you from no source in particular.
EREL
YOUR ANCESTORS NEED YOU. LOCAL MORTALS HAVE COME TO CLOSE TO A RELIC OF IMPORTANCE TO YOUR BLOOD AND ALL KIN ACROSS THE LAND.
LIAN SAYS THAT YOU ARE TO BE TRUSTED. THAT YOU WILL NOT SHIRK FROM DUTY AND HONOR.
HE HAS A GIFT FOR YOU, AS DO I. LOOK TO THE SOUTH OF TOWN. FIND THE SHRINE UNDER THE MOUNTAIN BEFORE THE PACK OF WOLVES DESCEND UPON IT.
You awaken on the ground, blood covers your beard and you see a few worshippers pretending not to notice you. One individual, with Chainmail under his Tunic holds out his hand, smile across his face.
Erel meets Clement.
“You have the look about you.”
“The look of someone that just had an, er, let’s say, an experience.”
Gem hung around neck, can’t remove, icon of Grade perfectly etched into gem. Glows when touched, feels like it’s pulling to one side when you touch it. If touched while outside, Erel can see beam of light from the heavens like a magic arrow pointing to his destination.
Pieces of Lian’s rough-cut gem are emanating warmth, and upon opening the pouch, they glow.
Part Two – Among Wolves
Fight Blood Wolf Brigade digging in a dungeon, unearthing something.
Gets into fight that he cannot win. Erel’s hand is pulled to the Gem. Gets a Barbarian Rage and +3 to strength based skills and attacks, and advantage to str and con saves, and one extra attack.
Fall through floor at inopportune time, While column falls, vision of Lian impossible to resist, leaps into your head. That same pain in your head erupts.
DWARF. WHAT MAKES YOU WORTHY OF THE QUEST AT HAND? THE JOURNEY IS LONG AND FRAUGHT WITH DANGER. YOU CUT STONE. CAN YOU EVEN CUT THE FLESH OF THOSE THAT WILL BAR YOUR PATH?
HE FOUND THE SHRINE
HE FELL THROUGH A HOLE.
HE IS PURE OF SPRIIT. HIS BROTHER SPEAKS FOR HIM FROM BEYOND.
HE COULDN’T EVEN GET HERE ON HIS OWN. AND LOOK, THE POOR MORTAL PETITIONER DIDN’T EVEN MAKE IT.
FRIENDS ARE IMPORTANT. AND EREL iS FAR FROM THE WORST CHOICE. WHAT OF YOUR AVATAR, HE IMBIBES LIBATIONS WITH THOSE FILTHY HUMAN FARMERS
*grumbles* your reality shakes.
