Return to Town
You are standing at the rear of the Graveyard. The
Level Up when they sleep at the Thirsty Goose.
At the Goose is a representative of the Blood Wolf Brigade named Kormanth Blackblade, asking questions about what happened to the keep and their comrades, hasn’t heard back in a few days. Townsfolk busts through the door, proclaiming that the Keep was cleared out and Derricus is DEAD! Some stupid adventurers defeated him and his crew, and now they think they can protect the two lake towns from the dangers of the old world. Kormanth anticipates Jarvald the Wolf Lord being rightly pissed.
Regina Goodfellow is rather upset to learn the truth of what her husband and son have been up to. she is willing to offer any help she can. She has no idea where the bandit camp is or what the burning citadel is but if its about a book, she knows to talk to Dorrik the Augurist across the lake in Keatonborough.
The Mayor can be asked for a boon – The goose does a bit of a spin and a dance and you all feel a warmth and everything flashes golden for a second. Everyone has 5D4 they can add to any d20 roll they want, like bless or guidance. If a 1 is rolled on the die, consult the wild magic table.
Lucas, if revisited, will burst into a tenticle monster (use Myconid Sovereign stats, and use Servant if they visit after leveling). Whomever rolls the worst wisdom save is overwhelmed by a vision of black on black
Bandit Camp
An encampment of bandits, with cultists intermingled with the crew. See Phineas reading from the evil book he took.
If they try to sneak in, they see another group running in to attack: A paladin with a glowing shield, a cleric with a hammer, a Bard firing a bow and a halfling rogue dodging back and forth.
If they try to run in and fight, the same group can be seen sneaking towards the group.
Fight 3x scouts, 2x Toughs, 4x Warriors, 600 xp
Then boss fight with Thulborh Blackfist and Phineas and they walk out of the tent after the first fight is lost. If interrogated, Blackfist is there to offer the muscle, Phineas to weild the dagger and his father had the information as to where the citadel was and how to get in.
Blood Wolf Caravan
If the group looks to the Blood Wolf Brigade for help to move into the Old World and get to the entrance to the Burning Citadel, Kormanth will request help with retaking the Tower of Tribulation.
The tower is three floors above the hill where it meets the sloping mountain. The first floor is the living space and dining table. The second floor is a workshop and minor smithy and the 3rd floor has a small, armory partially exposed, a broken ladder leads to the crenelated roof. The basement has living space, kitchen, and a tunnel that leads to a collapsed underground space.
Tankard the Calamitous and a small group of soldiers is waiting in the tower, having lost a patrol and expecting the worse. Proclaims that the Guild of Misadventure will not stand for losing their newly liberated keep, and how the two towns need their help, not the Theft of their meager wages.
Burning Citadel
Retired adventurer and explorer, aged magic user and owner of the Dangerous Borders Book Store at the heart of Keatonborough, Dorrik Don Derrington, or Dorrik the Augurist. Acting as a Prognosticator a silver platter, goblin finger bones and his own shed blood, and offers both information and actual bound books to adventurers that he deems worthy: this usually means not chaotic or evil in tendency.
Dorrik knows that the dagger is like a key to get into the Burning Citadel. That the black stone edifice has been aflame for over 100 years.
The Burning Citadel is in a blackened and dangerous within the Goblinoid controlled Old World. In order to get there you will need to go in force, just to arrive, let alone survive entering the Citadel.
