The Broken World is the story of societies built upon the bones of those that came before. Each Era became known for the armageddon that brought the period to an end but also had hundreds if not thousands of years of history before the age ending disaster, battle or magical cataclysm.
Age of the Gods: The mythic era where the planet of Raidethe and the others of the solar system were still malleable and rife with magic and change. Little is known of this time, and some historians refuse to believe the time was actually anything but myth and allegory.
Godrending: the Godrending is the time where the gods went to war with each other before the mortal races walked the world of Raidethe.
Age of Titans: The vast era of legend when the first intelligent races lived and eventually found the world to be too small for the titanic beings.
Titanwar: Without the Gods to keep them in line the Giants and the dragons go to war and rip the world apart.
Age of Warm and Cold Blood:
Shedding of Cold Blood: Lizards vs minotaurs and giant descendants go to war
The surviving Cold Bloods fled to the Dark Continent and fought to restart their civilizations amongst the volcanoes and ash fields. The
The Eldertime: Dark Skinned Elves migrate from the moon Voshe, one of the moons of the outer gas-giant planet Everice. They fight to escape the enslavement by Devils overseen by the Drider race. Many take up residence on Raidethe. Free from the control of their Devil overseers, the Elves rediscover their connection to the Feywild and a prosperous age of art and enlightement follows as they spread across the planet.
The dwarves travel through the elemental planes from underground to underground looking for more resources to plunder.
Elderdeath: The End of the era that saw the Elves and Dwarves fall to chaos and bloodshed.
Age of Terror: Sages and historians argue about the specifics but less so the idea that the Goblinoid races were brought about by a dark spirit from the time of Elderdeath, a being of hate stuck in the mortal realm unable to let go and move on after it’s death. Wishing for all to be raised and ruined, the first Goblins extracted themselves from the bloodsoaked fields of the wars that killed most of the elves and dwarves.
First Goblinoid War: Detraterradon, also known as the Great Abomination, is thought to be a demon possessed Bugbear or some other monstrosity. Regardless of what it was in actuality, this goblinoid warlord brought the remnants of the Elder races to the brink of destruction.
The Elves create or summon the Human race as a slavelike mind controlled army of short lived but naturally violent creatures. After years of near constant battles, Detraterradon was ultimately defeated by Crittus Maederossi and a band composed of human barbarians and druids at the head of a slave army led by a few Elven mages and Dwarven Smithlords.
Dominance of Man: The age of man starts
Mishtons are the first major society which took root north of the shield mountains, building a vast society of cities around golden ziggurats amongst the tropical jungle with the help of Shield Dwarves and the halflings of the peninsula.
The discovery of elder magics and the careless appropriation of power leads to the Vosian Hegemony taking over.
Aetherstorm: The long and powerful age of man ended with the death of magic and shattering of the Vosian Empire. The weave was not just ripped, but it was shredded to tatters. Most areas of Raidethe lost all connection to magic all-together, while few other areas turned to pure magical chaos.
Hellsblight: With many seals broken as magic was shattered in the Aetherstorm, opening the way for the denizens of the hells to flood the material world, ushering in the darkest era in Raidethe’s long and bloody history. This era doesn’t end with an armageddon so much as existing as full on age of apocalypse
Second Goblinoid War: A dangerous time in a less magically wonderful land, elder races nearly extinct, human societies band together to fight orc bosses, barely survive, spend time rebuilding.
The Thousand Year Bloodshed: Also known as the Thousand Year Bloodbath, This time is the modern day, 8th Age, cant’ avoid fighting, no massive world shattering battles, just constant skirmishes leading towards all-out war. Political intrigue and backstabbing, rival families and grabs for power. Goblins and Hobgoblins still rule no-man’s land, supported by Ogres and the occasional tribeless troll.
