Robert* has too many hobbies and favorite things. Most people may have one or two things. He has many. Too many. Pick a thing! You only get one thing! You have too many damned things!
From a young age, Robert had a penchant for building smaller versions of larger things. Starting with Lego. Before moving on to model cars and whatnot. He also had an innate desire for taking things apart. On many an occasion his mother would hide all the tools in the house(specifically the screw drivers), because he kept taking things like alarm clocks, radios, and phones apart. Little did she know, he had his own screwdriver. This all went on well into his teens when he switched to building and dismantling computers.
Video Games have always been a source of escape for him, ever since the mid 80’s. Starting with the Atari before moving on to the Nintendo. He had a Power Pad but was not cool enough to own a Power Glove. Nintendo introduced him to Role Playing Games, and that’s been his go-to game genre ever since. He has no problem throwing hundreds of hours away at a time on RPG’s He still believes that Final Fantasy VII is the best RPG ever, and will not hear otherwise. The Mass Effect series comes in at a close 2nd. Favorite games include:
- Final Fantasy VII
- Final Fantasy VIII
- Final Fantasy IX
- Final Fantasy XVI
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Mass Effect series (yes, including Andromeda)
- Warcraft, Warcraft 2, World of Warcraft
- Rock Band
- Yakuza Zero
- Yakuza Like a Dragon
- Halo: Reach
- Animal Crossing
- Fire Emblem series
Another source of escape were books. Books took him to other worlds. Places where he could forget the real world for a while. Fantasy novels were always close at hand. The early 1990’s brought suspense themed novels into his life. Starting with Jurassic Park. He once read Jurassic park, cover to cover, 3 times in 5 days. Michael Crichton was one of his favorite authors for about ten years. Thrillers became interesting later in life. Dan Brown and Brad Thor’s novels provided massive hours of enjoyment. Robert has never once read a Harry Potter book(nor seen a single movie for that matter), and is fine with that. Favorite Authors include:
- Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman (Dragonlance series)
- Richard A. Knaak (Dragonlance series)
- J.R.R. Tolkien (Hobbit, Lord of The Rings)
- Christie Golden (World of Warcraft series)
- Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Andromeda Strain, Sphere, etc)
- Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons)
- Brad Thor (early Scot Harvath series)
- Andy Weir (The Martian, Project Hail Mary)
- Haruki Murakami (Norwegian Wood, 1Q84, Kafka On The Shore)
Tabletop Wargames and pencil/paper Role Playing Games were added to his bag of tricks in High School. Though he really enjoys them, he never really got good at them. In fact he still sucks at them. Blames the dice a lot. Keeps buying new sets in hopes to turn the tables. Magic the Gathering was a strong suit(no dice involved). However, his pool of opponents was limited to one person. He LARP’ed for a few years in a White Wolf, World of Darkness setting and enjoyed it(again no dice involved). Robert is familiar with the following game settings and systems:
- Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
- AD&D Forgotten Realms
- AD&D Dragonlance
- White Wolf Games, Vampire the Masquerade
- White Wolf Games, Minds Eye Theater, Laws of the Night
- White Wolf Games, Exalted
- Decipher Games, The Lord of the Rings Role Playing Game
- Warhammer 40,000
- Necromunda
- Aeronautica Imperialis
- Magic the Gathering
- Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Though he took a few years off in high school, he has been an avid sports fan(and masochist) since a young age. He grew up watching the Boston Red Sox try their best( or not) to break their multi-generational curse, year after year. On one night in 2004 when they won the World Series, he may have had the police called due to a noise complaint. He is also a major New York Rangers fan and regularly attends games at Madison Square Garden. He has favorite sports teams from around the world. Sports allegiances include:
Domestic
- Boston Red Sox
- New York Rangers
- New York City Football Club
- US Men’s National Soccer, Hockey, Baseball teams
International
- Manchester City Football Club(English Premier League)
- Yomiuri Giants(Japanese Pro Baseball League)
- FC Tokyo (Japanese J1 Soccer League)
- Japanese Men’s and Women’s National Soccer teams
- Essendon Football Club(Australian Football League)
Robert has been an avid music listener since before he was able to walk. He owes his primary taste in music to a cousin. Bands like Iron Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica were always played at the appropriate volume long before his ears had fully developed. He does feel thankful for retaining his hearing. The numerous genres of Heavy Metal are as important to him as water or food. Though his tastes were never limited to metal. He can switch from the blackest of Metal to JPOP to Jazz as easy as one would change lanes on an empty highway. Robert considered himself a musician from middle school to about 2005. Playing multiple instruments including but not limited to; clarinet, saxaphones, trombone, and tuba. He misses playing music, but has no outlet now. Though he has recently bought a ukulele and occasionally makes noise with that. Favorite bands, musicians, or groups include:

- Alice In Chains
- Iron Maiden
- Lamb of God
- Trivium
- Amon Amarth
- Sabaton
- Flogging Molly
- Billy Joel

Robert is an Otaku and has had an interest in Japan since The Karate Kid Part II was released in 1986. He always wanted a mentor like Mr Miyagi, and fell in love with Kumiko(played by Tamlyn Tomita) long before he knew what love was. His interest in Japan would be cemented by anime such as Akira and Ghost in the Shell. In the mid 2000’s he would finally start studying Japanese. And in 2010 would take his first trip to Tokyo. This trip would seriously infect him with an occasionally debilitating condition that would require him to return to Japan yearly. He thinks Japan is his second home, though he owns no property there. His wife and he watch Japanese TV shows daily even though they have about 300 regular cable channels. His all time favorite Anime are:
- Neon Genesis Evangelion(including all movies)
- Sword Art Online
- Rurouni Kenshin
- Ghost in the Shell
- Cowboy Bebop
- Death Note

- Steins;Gate
- Your Name
- Akira
- My Neighbor Totoro
- Spirited Away

*Robert wrote this bio page about himself in third person, and enjoyed it for some reason. He is also aware that he probably made numerous mistakes while using third person. And he doesn’t care.
**He has never once, in his life, tried basket weaving. The closest he got was weaving strips of paper together in Elementary school.
***He has not been successful in multiple attempts. Injuries come regularly and tend to stack like buffs in WoW.
